Behaviour
At Thorpedene Primary School & Nursery, we strive to create a positive and consistent learning environment across the school. All children are familiar with our high expectations and in particular the recent introduction of our "FANTASTIC" routines in key areas such as walking, listening, and lining up. They are designed to encourage safe and respectful movement around the school, promote attentive listening and engagement during lessons and lastly to support orderly movement around school day.
Positive Behaviour
In order to encourage the children to continually display positive behaviours, we have multiple reward systems in place. These are:
- Weekly golden time
- Positive rewards - certificates/notes home
- Cove value specific stickers
- Good to be Green stickers
- Celebration assemblies
- Sharing positive behaviours with the Leaders and Senior Leaders
- Reward events
- House Points/Dojos
We use a house system to promote our Core Values. The aim is to provide every pupil in each house with the following:
- a sense of belonging within the school community
- opportunities to develop social, intellectual, physical and practical skills
- a sense of achievement both inside and outside of the classroom
- fun and excitement through competition
- opportunities for leadership
- an awareness of individual and collective responsibility.
House points are calculated weekly and celebrated with the school community promoting Positive Behaviours.
Anti-Bullying
Whilst many schools take part in Anti-Bullying Week in November, we use this opportunity to discuss and promote kindness with the children. We focus on the core values of our school which are achieving - caring - respecting - confidence.
